About the opportunity
Westgold Resources are on the lookout for a passionate, driven Manager - Community & Heritage to manage relationships with local communities, ensure compliance social regulations, foster positive interaction and address community concerns effectively.
The successful candidate will collaborate with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholder to oversee policies, contracts and training programs that will positive impact stakeholders.
This role will be based in Perth Head Office with frequent travel to site on a full time, maximum term contract until October 2025.
The role includes
- Maintain adherence to Westgold’s social performance management guidelines, demonstrated growth through review and corrective actions
- Provide expert social performance input to feasibility studies, contributing to reductions in project-related social impacts
- Implement and execute a community engagement strategy that strengths community relationships
- Cultivate and manage collaborative relationships with key stakeholders, including Indigenous communities, pastoralists and regional towns
- Develop and implement strategies and programs to maximize opportunities for local communities to participate in Westgold activities
- Collaborate with Westgold’s contractors and suppliers to encourage and support increased participation from local communities in their work
- Coordinate heritage surveys and engagement activities with local communities
- Provide leadership, mentoring within Westgold’s Environment and Community team
What do I need?
- A passion for achieving positive outcomes for regional communities
- Strong written and verbal communications skills with a passion for working with and assisting people
- 8+ years’ working in mining and/or government industries
- Previous experience working with Aboriginal peoples in mentoring and skill development roles, preferably within the mining sector
- Tertiary experience in Social Sciences, Indigenous Studies or relevant field (desirable)
- Valid C Class manual drivers' licence
