About the opportunity
Westgold Resources are sourcing an experienced Mining Manager to manage and coordinate all operational aspects of the open pit and underground operations to meet safety, production and costs targets. This position will be based at our Higginsville Operations on a permanent 8:6, 4:3 roster.
The gold operations at Higginsville are located approximately 75km south of the Beta Hunt Mine in Higginsville, Western Australia.
The operation includes a 1.6Mtpa processing plant, 192 mining tenements including the Aquarius, Hidden Secret, Mousehollow, Two Boys, Baloo, Pioneer, Fairplay North, Mitchell, Wills, Challenge and Mount Henry deposits.
The role includes
- Track mining physical activity daily, validate monthly claims and complete monthly accruals and process payment certificates as required
- Maintain a knowledge of all operational activities and costs
- Oversee mining contractor performance and ensure contract key performance indicators are being met
- Provide focus through which short to medium term production objectives can be achieved
- Preparation of operating plans, budgets and capital expenditure proposals
- Positively promote, educate, manage and comply with the Company's values, Code of Conduct, Fitness for Work, Hours of Work, Issue Resolution, Bullying and Harassment
- Communicate with operating personnel on a regular basis to keep them informed of the status and direction of the operation, with a view to obtaining input for consideration on the above issues
- Providing information, instruction, and training to all workers on the safe use of machinery, equipment, substances, and materials
- Fulfill the role of Quarry and/or Underground Manager (if required) and Senior Executive as prescribed in the Western Australian Work Health and Safety Act Regulations
- Ensure risk assessments and workplace inspections are conducted to identify hazards and associated risks and implement effective control measures by developing safe work methods, work instructions and standard operating procedures
What do I need?
- Comprehensive understanding of all aspects of the mining cycle from exploration through to processing
- Ability to set, drive, govern safety standards, and role modelling behaviours always
- Growth mindset with clear and demonstrable alignment with the Company values
- Ability to accurately forecast and manage costs & budgeting
- Demonstrated ability to select, develop, coach, and mentor employees resulting in improved business outcomes
- Demonstrated ability to contribute to, influence, and make decisions within multi-discipline teams
- Tertiary degree in mining related discipline
- Knowledge and understanding of Work Health and Safety Act 2020
- Knowledge and understanding of Work Health and Safety (Mines) Regulations 2022
- Ability to be appointed as Site Senior Executive as per the Mines Regulations with required courses and training
- Current, unrestricted Western Australian Class 'C' Driver’s Licence
- National Police Clearance, completed within 12 months prior to commencement date
- Ability to effectively diagnose performance challenges and implement sustainable solutions
- Data driven decision making, with a curiosity and willingness to unlock efficiencies & drive performance
- Capability to effectively communicate and influence across various levels of the business - verbal and written
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritise multiple tasks effectively
- Demonstrated application of lean / continuous improvement ideas
