About the opportunity

Westgold Resources are currently sourcing an experienced WHS professional, to join the corporate office on a permanent full-time basis (Mon-Friday). The Group Manager - WHS leads the Health and Safety, Injury Management, Risk & Compliance, Emergency Management and Hygiene functions.

Reporting to the Chief Safety & Sustainability Officer, the successful candidate will drive safety and health performance across our operations, ensuring the well-being of our people while enhancing our safety culture and compliance standards.

This is an opportunity to shape the future of health and safety in underground mining within a collaborative and supportive leadership team.

The role includes

  • Lead the Work Health & Safety function across multiple sites and operations.
  • Drive cultural alignment and support executive and operational leaders in delivering WHS outcomes.
  • Partner with senior leadership to improve safety maturity and culture across our Australian operations.
  • Mentor, coach, and support HSE teams to build capability, skills, and knowledge to support consistent delivery and continuous improvement.
  • Lead the development and implementation of group-wide WHS frameworks, standards and reporting.
  • Monitor compliance with regulatory and internal standards across the business.
  • Represent the business in regulatory and industry forums where required.
  • Engage with stakeholders, including contractors, and regulatory bodies, to ensure WHS standards are met.
  • Oversee compliance, risk management, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Lead the implementation of strategic HSE initiatives and provide oversight for governance and performance reporting.

What do I need?

  • Tertiary or Diploma qualification in Work Health and Safety
  • Demonstrated 10+ years industry experience, 5 years in a Senior Management role in occupational health and safety management, systems and policy
  • High-level understanding of safety and risk management principles, mining practices, and human and organizational principles.
  • Proven ability to influence, coach, and guide teams across complex operations.
  • Exceptional communication, investigative, and analytical skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Willing to travel to operations as required
  • National Police Clearance
  • C Class driver's license
