About the opportunity
Westgold Resources are sourcing a Projects Controller to join the Technical Services department. This newly created position will see the successful candidate play a pivotal role in supporting the GM - Projects & Operational Readiness to meet project deadlines.
This role will be offered on a permanent full time basis and based at Westgold’s Head Offices centrally located in Perth, CBD.
The role includes
- Overall projects portfolio scheduling and monitoring
- Project Initiation: initial scoping and development of Project Charter
- Develop and maintain project schedules, work breakdown structure and resource plans
- Develop and monitor project budgets, track expenses and identify cost variances
- Identify, assess and manage project risks, and develop mitigation strategies
- Track project progress against planned schedules and budgets, identify potential issues and recommend corrective actions
- Assist the project manager to prepare and distribute project agendas, minutes, project status reports, forecasts and other relevant documentation
- Utilize project management software and techniques to plan, monitor and control projects
- Manage and control project changes, ensuring they are properly documented and approved
- Ensure that project deliverables meet the required quality standards
What do I need?
- Degree in relevant field such as commerce, finance, engineering or law or equivalent experience in mining or contracts
- Prior experience in contract administration, project administration and cost control for large resource projects
- An ability to learn, assess problems, and identify potential solutions
- Previous experience in a financial role desirable but not mandatory
- An aptitude with computers and tools (particularly data manipulation and interrogation) to operate quickly and efficiently
- An ability to quickly learn new software, or adapt existing software to meet Project and Business needs
- Strong skills with MS Excel, MS Word, MS Project
- An ability to clearly communicate with stakeholders; being able to present information in a suitable format depending on the audience
