About the Role

Join one of Australia's leading Caterpillar dealers and become the trusted technical specialist responsible for improving fleet reliability and performance at Cowal Mine.

This is more than a technical support role. You'll work directly with mine site leadership, maintenance teams and Caterpillar specialists to optimise equipment performance, reduce downtime and influence long-term maintenance strategies while building your commercial and leadership capability with WesTrac.

Why This Role?

  • Competitive salary package ($140k-$160k package dependent on experience)

  • Fully maintained company vehicle

  • Location allowance

  • Relocation support available

  • Monday to Friday lifestyle roster

  • Career pathway into Engineering, Reliability, Technical Services or Mining Support leadership

  • Exposure to one of Australia's largest Caterpillar mining fleet

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with our key customer, Caterpillar and internal stakeholders, acting as the on-site technical liaison across Cowal and Wagga

  • Analyse fleet performance data to identify underperforming assets and provide timely, effective technical solutions to equipment issues

  • Conduct wear management inspections and provide condition monitoring recommendations to optimise total cost of ownership, supported by high-quality technical reports

  • Work closely with the customer to resolve unplanned downtime, providing on-site technical advice, troubleshooting and warranty support

  • Review, assess, and recommend improvements to maintenance and operational practices, and support component lifecycle management and breakdown response coordination

  • Identify and develop aftermarket sales opportunities through regular customer engagement and fleet analysis, referring qualified opportunities to the Mining Support Manager to support business growth

Skills and Experience

  • Mechanical Trade Certificate (or tertiary qualification in Engineering) plus a minimum of 5 years’ post-trade experience on Cat equipment

  • Sound commercial acumen, with the ability to identify and clearly communicate sales and aftermarket opportunities to the Mining Support Manager

  • Strong understanding of whole-of-life cost, Fleet Production Cost (FPC) and equipment application, with familiarity with CAT systems (DBS, SIS, ET, SIMSi, TMI) an advantage

  • Demonstrated high-level customer relationship management and advanced communication skills

  • Proven ability to troubleshoot equipment faults, analyse data and compile reports to drive performance improvement

  • A strong safety-first mindset, with the ability to work autonomously or within a team across a 5/2 roster
