About us
WGA is an Australian and New Zealand company like no other – we are owned by the employees, loved by our long-term clients and have deep roots in our communities. With a team of over 700 people, WGA provides a rich, diverse, and empowered workplace, and offers you a chance to work alongside some of the best in the business.

WGA offers an outstanding working environment that fosters and supports mutual learning, respect, dignity, cultural openness, and an appreciation of differing perspectives and backgrounds. We strive to offer inspiring career paths and a selection of fantastic employee benefits. If you enjoy a great office environment, excellent flexibility and the long-term benefits that only a private organisation can offer, then WGA might be for you!

We deliver tailored design engineering solutions across the Buildings, Transport, Water Infrastructure, Urban Development, Ports and Marine, Energy, Defence and Resources sectors. We empower our engineers to think outside the square and dare to be different.

About our role
WGA delivers engineering projects across resources, infrastructure and energy. More projects are using data, modelling and digital tools.

This role is part of that delivery. You’ll work within project teams to solve engineering problems using a mix of engineering judgement, mathematical modelling and data.

Key responsibilities:
  • Work on engineering problems as part of project teams
  • Build and apply mathematical and process models
  • Analyse project data to support design and operational decisions
  • Develop tools or workflows that improve how the work is delivered
  • Engage with engineers and clients to define and solve problems
  • Stay involved through delivery and implementation
  • Manage change, quality, health, safety and risk.
  • Report to project leads on the status, progress and completion of projects.

About you
You’re an engineer who is curious about how data and modelling can be applied in practice, not just theory.

To be successful in this role you will have:
  • An engineering degree (any discipline) or double degree (engineering and data analytics or similar)
  • Exposure to modelling, simulation or analytical methods and the ability to apply practical solutions
  • Strong engineering fundamentals
  • The ability to work comfortably with real project data and ambiguity
  • A genuine interest in applying modelling and data to engineering problems
  • The ability to work with engineers and communicate clearly
  • Exposure to engineering modelling tools (e.g. SysCAD), process optimisation tools (e.g. Uplift), scenario modelling and analysis (e.g. Aura, Discover Co, MCG) and scripting or data tools (e.g. Python, Excel, SQL) ideal

About working with us
We believe a diverse workplace fosters unique and progressive ideas and drives our culture of learning and sharing knowledge. Underpinned by our values, we offer an outstanding working environment that fosters mutual learning, respect, dignity, cultural openness and an appreciation of differing perspectives and backgrounds.

Our Graduates are our future here at WGA, so we make it our mission to ensure you receive excellent mentoring from our team of technical and project specialists, are part of a supportive peer group and gain unrivalled access to leaders across the WGA business.
