About The Role
Following the successful acquisition of Daunia and Blackwater metallurgical coal mines from BHP and Mitsubishi Development in a US$3bn plus deal, we have created a new role in our Group Finance team.
Reporting to Group Financial Reporting Manager the Senior Accountant – Group Reporting will support the management and preparation of all ASX reporting of financial results across the consolidated group comprising both NSW and QLD operations.
This role is based in our Sydney CBD office.
What You’ll Do
- Management and preparation of monthly consolidated results for the Group
- Preparation of monthly management reporting
- Delivery of all ASX reporting including half-year and full-year financial reports and ASX quarterly reporting
- Preparation of supporting information for the half-year and year-end results
- Assist with preparation of Audit Committee reports
- Provide ad hoc technical guidance to the business on accounting treatments, financial reporting issues and the implementation of new accounting standards
- Key point of contact for the external auditors, including questions and requests
- Liaising with various stakeholders across finance and other teams
- Ad hoc analysis and reporting requirements across the Whitehaven group
- Review of balance sheet reconciliations and supporting files
- Coaching and development of other team members
What You’ll Bring
- CA/CPA qualification
- Strong Excel skills
- Proven experience in a similar role, preferably within a group function
- Understanding of accounting fundamentals and ability to think commercially
- Strong attention to detail
- Willingness to look for opportunities to improve processes
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
