About Us

Woolworths are seeking an Accountant to join our Finance Shared Services team. In this role, your primary responsibility is to review, investigate and provide insights on Business Unit costs and associated balance sheet accounts.

This includes monitoring relevant transactions, preparing balance sheet reconciliations, providing business insight as well as supporting the wider team in driving continuous improvements across all aspects of the teams performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Independently prepare a range of balance sheet reconciliations from across different areas of the balance sheet that range from simple to more complex and ensure all reconciliations are investigated to ensure they are rated green.
• Assist with the preparation of notes to the Woolworths Financial Statements
• Identify areas of concern and inefficient processes in everything you do "always improving" mindset.
• Support the wide variety of projects and process improvements that are underway across the team
• Ability to analyse and pull together a wide range of information for consolidation and analysis.
• Month End tasks including (but not limited to) accrual calculations, journal review and posting and information analysis.
• Liaise with stakeholders to call out insights and resolve queries
• Maintain an effective understanding of business and reporting considerations
• Maintain stakeholder relationships
• Perform User Acceptance Testing for any changes to the System Environment
• Leverage systems to achieve accounting outcomes that remove manual effort

What we're looking for

• Finance related degree with or a view of completing CA or CPA qualification.
• Minimum 3 years relevant accounting experience, exposure in retail/large corporate will be advantageous.
• Highly motivated and driven by successful outcomes.
• Strong interpersonal, influencing and negotiation skills.
• Effective communication skills with an ability to effectively engage with a wide range of stakeholders.
• Experience working under pressure and on high profile assignments
