
Chief Financial Officer - PFD Food Services
The Opportunity
PFD Food Services is a $2.5bn business that delivers a superior range of dry goods, frozen and chilled products, fresh seafood and meat, confectionery, paper products and cleaning solutions across Australia Customers include pubs and clubs, cafés, airlines, hotels, restaurants, aged care and retirement villages, resorts and theme parks, convenience outlets, venue and field caterers, fast food outlets, schools and kindergartens, and sporting, child care and correctional facilities. PFD, headquarted out of Melbourne, forms a key part of the Woolworths Group ecosystem, having entered into a strategic partnership whereby Woolworths holds a 65% equity interest in PFD and 100% of PFD’s freehold properties.
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is a key executive leader of the PFD business that provides strategic leadership and oversight of corporate and financial operations and governance of PFD. Through leading the planning, implementation and operation of financial activities, the CFO will identify and implement strategies that position PFD for growth and stability, aligned with the future direction of PFD and the Woolworths Group. As an important part of the Woolworths ecosystem, this role interfaces closely with the WOW Finance team and business leaders. The role leads the Finance team and is responsible for the full Finance function within PFD.
We are searching for a trusted advisor to the CEO, Board and Executives, to hold strong collaborative relationships, and co-create value by delivering insights into performance to drive strategy and growth. As an inspiring leader you will strengthen capability and navigate complexities through collaborative work practices with PDF and the wider Woolworths group.
In this role you will also:
- Participate as a key member of the PFD Executive Leadership Team
- Significantly contribute to development of and leading the implementation of organisational strategy
- Be the commercial partner and trusted advisor of the CEO of PFD, providing advice, identifying and solving problems, influencing decisions to drive results
- Contribute to, leverage and integrate with Woolworths Group functions as required and beneficial to the growth and progression of the PFD finance function
- Provide recommendations and insights to the Board on performance of the business and enable effective governance and manage key risks
- Lead a large and diverse Finance function, operating an efficient and effective team
- Develop and inspire the Finance team and creating a strong pipeline of talent
- Assume responsibility for capital management including oversight and approval of all capex,tracking and realisation of financial benefits from investment activities
- Drive business improvement initiatives, enterprise cost reduction, procurement, pricing execution and innovations that add value to the company
- Deliver strong financial performance in line with growth strategy
- Deliver value through successful partnership models
Who we’re looking for
You are a strong communicator in every sense, able to influence at all levels internally and externally. You are self-driven and have a strong performance orientation. You take a creative approach to problem solving, strategic in your thinking you are able to develop deep commercial insights and translate those into strategic initiatives. As a collaborative leader you inspire those around you and have a passion for developing people through capability building, coaching and motivating.
You will also have
- Demonstrable experience as a highly valued partner and advisor to CEO, Board and executive team
- A track record as a CFO that demonstrates an ability to deliver sustainable results in a large and complex environment
- Experience in shaping and executing financial plans that have successfully driven sustainable growth
- Experience working with external stakeholders, including banks, auditors and other external stakeholders
- M&A experience including transaction planning and post-merger integration
- Experience in B2B food services, FMCG, hospitality or similar industries would be an advantage
