About the Role
Our Portfolio operates primarily to support major Capex projects which are shaping the future of Woolworth’s Supply Chain (Primary Connect), including automated material handling equipment installations with related service and maintenance, and other fit out installations required within our Primary Connect ecosystem.
The Category Specialist is responsible for supporting the portfolio team in meeting time sensitive deliverables across the Procurement lifecycle. As an entry level role in our team, you will evolve your understanding of the tools and processes which are key to meeting our business stakeholder expectations. Your keen interest in supply chain, automation and capital projects will be advantageous to understanding the subject matter of supplier interactions you participate in and documents you prepare.
How you will add value
Reporting through to the Portfolio Manager – you will:
● Coordinate, create, prepare strategic deliverables for our portfolio including Sourcing Plans, Recommendation Packs, Transaction Approval requests.
● Develop, implement and manage vendor performance metrics, documents and reporting as part of a Supplier Relationship Management plan.
● Support complex contract negotiations, document and track action logs, maintain progress to meet execution deadlines.
● Prepare contract schedules and other annexures relevant to in flight negotiations.
● Lead the Contract Management process (administration, development, execution, management) and manage the central repository for portfolio contracts.
● Support our portfolio team with administrative activities during RFx programs, with the opportunity to also lead such projects as appropriate.
● Collaborate with procurement business partners to achieve desired outcomes.
● Develop a comprehensive understanding of all category influences.
● Initiate and proactively maintain consistent and professional engagement with key stakeholders.
● Obtain data from varied sources to identify and support fact-driven opportunities. Ensure analysis is accurate, comprehensive and robust.
● Conduct market analysis to drive category strategies.
● Conduct risk management analysis and take action as required.
What you will bring
● A few years experience in management consulting at a consultant or senior consultant level is highly valued, alternatively experience as a supply chain or procurement specialist or similar business professional role.
● Preferably tertiary qualified in Procurement, Supply Chain, Engineering, Commerce, Arts, Business Administration, Project Management or similar disciplines.
● Demonstrate that you can create / prepare / deliver quality presentation material which succinctly communicates insights and key messages to senior executive management.
● Keen attention to detail and accuracy (particularly in relation to contract reviews and preparation of analysis).
● High level of commercial acumen is important, including appreciation of total cost of ownership principles and value levers.
● You are self-reliant, proactive, action oriented, outcome focused, with a continuous improvement mindset.
● You have strong organisational skills with an ability to prioritise and juggle conflicting demands.
● An understanding of contract law, and/or an interest in developing your skills in this area.
● Negotiation skills are well regarded but will also be mentored and trained.
