The Role
The Head of Retail Marketing brings the BIG W brand and customer plan to life through partnering with the business to develop & deliver marketing programs that meaningfully contribute to BIG W’s customer value perception. In this role, you will lead and work closely with cross-functional teams to enable market-leading delivery of omnichannel marketing programs that drive trade, traffic and demonstrate value for the BIG W Business and our customers.
- Lead the end-to-end development of BIG W’s Trade and Value marketing strategy - ensuring alignment with the broader Marketing plan and overall business strategy and objectives
- Define and manage key Trade and Value programs within the broader BIG W Marketing plan, and how these programs are executed across all paid, owned and earned media
- Establish the Trade and Value team as a customer 1st business partner responsible for activating the promotional cycle across channels; and in doing so, is valued by core partners across the BIG W business
- Leverage customer and category insights to collaborate and partner with cross-functional teams to develop a compelling, customer 1st marketing plan that seamlessly integrates into to the Customer Plan
- Continuously monitor and analyse market trends, competitive landscape, and customer insights to identify opportunities to stimulate trade, and fine-tune BIG W’s Retail marketing program and executional tactics
- Lead cross-functional post program implementation reviews to drive continuous improvement and demonstrate meaningful contribution to commercial outcomes through marketing effectiveness
- Collaborate with a broad mix of external stakeholders such as advertising, media and PR agencies; ecosystem partners and vendors to drive effective delivery of retail marketing initiatives
- Partner closely with the Commercial team, Customer Insights & Strategy; and the Brand & Destination plus Customer Engagement marketing teams to execute a clear customer strategy that leverages all relevant touchpoints & channels across the broader Brand & Marketing ecosystem
- Shared accountability with the MLT to effectively manage a cost centre including core accountability for Trade & Value programs, and to drive supplier contributions through Cartology to marketing to offset costs
- Coach and develop a team of marketing professionals with clear development plans, cohesive ways of working and succession planning in place; while role modelling behaviours that reflect ‘better together’

About you
- Previous experience as a senior marketing lead for a successful retail business
- Extensive experience partnering with senior teams across strategy development, project planning and delivery
- Considerable experience building and managing complex stakeholder relationships and strategic partnerships
- Extensive experience as a known and trusted partner in a fast paced retail environment
