About the role

Due to an internal secondment, we have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Group Accountant to join our Woolworths Group External Reporting team for 12 months. You will play a key role in ensuring that internal and external reporting is accurate, timely, and in compliance with accounting standards and disclosure requirements.

Key responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation and review of the Group’s half-year financial report and annual report, Appendix 4D/4E, five-year summary and subsidiary accounts

  • Assist in the preparation of papers to the Audit Committee and analysis to the CFO, to support key accounting positions and judgements

  • Provide technical accounting advice to the wider Group, including guidance on leases, revenue and capital expenditure

  • Proactively identify opportunities for process improvement within the financial reporting process

  • Partner with various finance shared services teams in Adelaide to deliver timely insights during reporting cycles

  • Liaise and collaborate with external auditors during the financial reporting process

  • Maintain the Group accounting policies to ensure ongoing compliance with Australian Accounting Standards

About you

  • A minimum of 4 years experience

  • CA / CPA qualification is essential

  • Previous experience in a Big 4 accounting firm and/or large ASX listed business is highly desirable

  • Exposure to technical accounting skills including familiarity with Australian Accounting Standards and ability to interpret accounting and reporting requirements

  • Able to communicate complex financial information to a broad audience

  • Strong stakeholder management, project management, and partnering capability

  • Experience in supporting financial systems (BPC and SAP) and advanced excel skills
