What you’ll do
The role of State Lead Field Engineer is a SENIOR lead and mediation role. Accountable to manage resources and develop knowledge to deliver on time and quality field engineering services locally to support delivery, sustainability targets and operational performance of Refrigeration and HVAC systems within Woolworths sites.
This leadership role is also responsible to delivering the field engineering strategy, people management and development, budget management, development of refrigeration and HVAC engineering scope in line with National Field Engineering managers directives, always improving internal processes related to field and commercial engineering services, management of contractor performance by driving state forums, project allocation to provide a sustainable long term industry resource. (Internal and external) , assuring safety, documentation and building strong professional relationships and collaboration with all state matrix stakeholders.
Responsibilities will include:
- Management of field engineers and support team to deliver in line with PNP and initiative project works schedule for local / state area of responsibility.
- Actively develop the talent within the team to create a strong and diverse talent pipeline, and transparent succession plan
- Work with commercial engineers to provide timely seamless tendering documentation and process.
- Ensure contractor and service / installer compliance with relevant legislation, Woolworths’ specifications, Good Refrigeration practices, ARCTick and Australian Standards.
- Ensure Woolworths’ Refrigeration / HVAC assets are installed, upgraded, commissioned for best long term performance and the lowest cost.
- Input into the development of Refrigeration / HVAC engineering scope of work documents for all new store and store renewal projects.

What you’ll bring
We’re looking for someone who is passionate about going the extra mile for our stores and customers. Bring with you your existing HVAC know-how, a keen attitude and it will be valued and built upon!
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in an engineering or science discipline preferred but not essential.
- Demonstrated experience in the refrigeration installation and commissioning and project management function..Minimum 7 years of installation management or Commissioning experience - Preferably in Supermarket application.
- Excellent understanding of Refrigeration HVAC systems, including design, installation & maintenance and project management.
- Solid understanding of Retail, supermarket activity with focus on the reliability of RHVAC plant, display aspect and customer impact.
- Understanding of compliance requirements with relevant codes, Australian Standards and other statutory provisions.
- Good organisational skills with a logical and methodical manner to implementing efficient processes, staff management, utilisation and effective work practices.
