About The Procurement Team

About the role
The role of Category Manager - Supply Chain Operations is responsible for implementing agreed category strategy activities such as preparing, running and evaluating tender activities, collaborating with stakeholders to achieve desirable procurement outcomes, undertake and lead negotiations to achieve best possible and least risk outcomes, develop contracts and supporting contract schedules, and prepare documentation required for stakeholder approvals. Reporting to the Portfolio Manager – Supply Chain Operations, you will balance Supply Chain objectives and best fit approach whilst adhering to Procurement Policies. The supply chain category has depth and breadth and encompasses all our leading Brand Banners.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop a comprehensive understanding of all category influencers and become the business-wide category subject matter expert.
- Develop & execute sourcing strategies (RFx, Negotiation, Selection, Award).
- Contract Management (administration, development, execution, management).
- Identify procurement activity stakeholders and influence them as required to achieve desired outcomes, up to Senior Management / Divisional Head level.
- Support simultaneous projects across ANZ sites.
- Build and maintain momentum and consistency with regards to key stakeholder engagement within Primary Connect (our supply chain business)
- Develop, maintain and grow collaborative and constructive working relationships with key stakeholder departments such as Supply Chain, Legal, Treasury, Insurance, Finance, Property etc
- Develop, implement and manage vendor performance metrics, documents and reporting as part of a Supplier Relationship Management plan (metrics, compliance, continuous improvement plans).
- Conduct market analysis and develop insights to drive category strategies.
- Conduct risk analyses and take appropriate action as required.
About You
We are looking for a strong negotiator & people influencer with the following skills:
- Essential - minimum 5-10 years’ experience in Procurement.
- MCIPS highly desirable.
- Deep understanding of total cost of ownership principles and value levers
- Demonstrated experience as a Category Manager within a large, centralised procurement function ideally with experience across Fleet, MHE, Freight and Warehousing categories.
- Sound appreciation of category management principles and processes.
- Competent understanding of contract law.
- Proven track record in delivering significant hard cost savings in a transformational environment.
- Proven stakeholder engagement, constructive collaboration and influencing skills across large geographies and multiple projects.
- Strong relationship management and communication skills.
- High level of commercial acumen & strategic thinking.
