_______________________________________________________________________

The impact you'll have:

At the Workplace Injury Commission, we've helped thousands of injured workers and employers to resolve their disputes and move forward with their lives. We're a robust Victorian Government statutory authority that's making an impact.

As we continue our growth journey, we're seeking a Senior Manager, Portfolio Capability & Practice to play a pivotal role in shaping how WIC delivers its strategic priorities. In this role, you will lead the organisation's portfolio system and uplift the maturity of program, project, business analysis, and change practices — providing the Executive Leadership Team (ELT) with the assurance, insight, and confidence that initiatives are well-sequenced, governed, and delivering measurable benefits.

As a proactive and trusted partner to Executive Sponsors, you will help shape enterprise-wide delivery, strengthen sponsorship capability, and enhance governance and reporting frameworks. You will lead a team responsible for portfolio capability and delivery, ensuring the ePMO and change functions operate as high-performing, enabling centres of excellence.

Working closely with the Senior Manager, Strategy & Client Experience, you will connect strategy and planning to execution — ensuring WIC can choose well, start well, and finish well.

Your leadership will ensure delivery across WIC is aligned, assured, and client-focused, while driving continuous improvement in capability, performance, and outcomes across the organisation.

Who we're looking for:

To succeed in this role, you will have:

  • Extensive experience in portfolio, program, and project management within a complex, multi-disciplinary environment, with a proven track record of delivering large-scale initiatives on time and within budget.
  • Demonstrated expertise in developing and implementing governance, assurance, and reporting frameworks that drive accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills, with experience in building, developing, and motivating high-performing teams across portfolio and change functions.
  • Advanced knowledge of change management methodologies and the ability to lead organisational change initiatives that deliver sustainable outcomes.
  • Strong financial and risk management capability, including experience in budget development, resource allocation, and risk mitigation.
  • Superior communication, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills, with a demonstrated ability to influence at executive and board levels.
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Business, Project Management, or a related discipline (essential).

For further information, please refer to our position description which you can access through our careers site.

Resolution matters. And so do you.

We're a stable, purpose-driven organisation that offers you meaningful work, a welcoming and vibrant team culture, and a range of benefits, including:

  • Competitive remuneration, plus generous allo wances and reimbursements for study, wellbeing and home-office working.
  • More leave when you need it most - flexible leave arrangements tailored to you.
  • Access to our 24/7 holistic mental health and wellbeing program for you and your family.
  • A progressive and supportive work environment with experienced leaders who are invested in you.

Here are some of the things we hope you'll love about working with us:
