The impact you'll have:

At the Workplace Injury Commission (WIC), we've helped thousands of injured workers and employers to resolve their disputes and move forward with their lives. We're a robust Victorian Government statutory authority with a clear purpose and a growing focus on strategic capability and organisational performance.

As Strategy Specialist, you'll help shape how WIC plans, prioritises and delivers its strategic objectives. Working closely with the Senior Manager, Strategy & Client Experience, you'll support the development of WIC's strategic and business planning frameworks, ensuring organisational priorities are translated into an aligned suite of plans and a curated pipeline of strategic initiatives.

You'll work across WIC to strengthen alignment between strategy, business planning and performance, helping leaders make evidence-based decisions. Through internal engagement and strategic problem-solving, you'll support the development of planning approaches, performance frameworks and strategic advice that enable WIC to focus effort where it matters most.

This is a highly collaborative role that combines strategic thinking with practical delivery. You'll engage with senior leaders across WIC to build organisational capability, improve planning discipline, apply performance insights and help embed a culture of strategic decision-making.

We're looking for an experienced strategy professional who enjoys working through complexity, connecting ideas across organisational boundaries and supporting leaders to make strategic decisions. If you enjoy systems thinking and are motivated to create public value, we'd love to hear from you.

Who we're looking for:

To succeed in this role, you will have:

  • Demonstrated experience leading strategic planning and prioritisation in complex multi-stakeholder environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in ambiguity, applying strategic judgement, systems thinking and curiosity to solve complex organisational problems.
  • Proven track record in facilitating cross-functional integration, aligning planning activities vertically and horizontally across divisions.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills, with the ability to influence, negotiate and collaborate at all levels.
  • Demonstrated experience in assessing strategic opportunities and supporting the development of evidence-based business cases that align with organisational priorities.
  • Experience in designing and implementing planning and performance frameworks, including KPIs, dashboards and reporting tools.

For further information, please refer to our position description which you can access through our careers site.

Resolution matters. And so do you.

We're a stable, purpose-driven organisation that offers you meaningful work, a welcoming and vibrant team culture, and a range of benefits, including:

  • Competitive remuneration, plus generou s allowances and reimbursements for study, wellbeing and home-office working.
  • More leave when you need it most - flexible leave arrangements tailored to you.
  • Access to our 24/7 holistic mental health and wellbeing program for you and your family.
  • A progressive and supportive work environment with experienced leaders who are invested in you.

Here are some of the things we hope you'll love about working with us:
