About this opportunity
The role of the Advisor, Safety & Quality Assurance has many dimensions:
- Technical: the role requires maintaining up to date subject matter expertise in industry specific and relevant statutory requirements.
- Strategic: This role is also required to demonstrate high levels of strategic thinking and problem-solving proficiency,
- People: to engage with staff and contactors at various role and technical knowledge levels. Communicate regularly and effectively, vertically within the business.
- Administrative: the incumbent is required to ensure a high standard of administrative compliance is maintained, particularly with documentation and reporting. Regular and timely follow up on relevant issues are also essential.
Reporting to the Manager- RS Support Services, your responsibilities will include;
- Assist with the development of Audit and Assurance checklists, workflows ensuring harmonisation with ONRSR and contractual requirements
- Administer the annual audit schedule and ensure all audits are managed and closed out in accordance with the Yarra Trams Safety Management System and associated Task Cards
- Perform all allocated audits and assurance activities in a timely manner including the drafting of relevant reports and provide feedback when completed to the Manager RS Support Services
- Undertake incident investigations and reporting.
- Ensure the implementation of safe work practices and the identification of potential safety hazards
- Conduct Depot visits to perform surveillance of activities by the Rolling Stock Team or contracted third parties
About you
- Hold a Safety Investigator accreditation
- Lead Auditor qualified
- Hold a Certificate IV in Work Health & Safety
Your experience and knowledge will include;
- Experience in leading and implementing Safety and Quality Management System and related activities
- Familiarity with ISO9001 Quality Management System
- Experience with implementation of Quality Systems in a hands-on environment
- Familiarity with relevant OHS / Rail Safety Legislation and Standards, particularly safety requirements mandated by ONRSR under Rail Safety National Law will be highly regarded
- Demonstrable knowledge and understanding of Asset Management, Risk Management and Change Management principles
- Experience in analysing risk and developing strategies to minimise risk exposure
- Experience in leading and carrying out Safety and Quality Audits
