About this opportunity
We are looking for expressions of interest from dedicated and committed individuals willing to undertake a 4-year apprenticeship in overhead traction line work. Commencing in January 2024 this apprenticeship is a great opportunity for individuals to develop the skills required to become a Rail Traction Line Worker within Yarra Trams. Reporting to the Team Manager, Overhead and under instruction from Senior Line Workers a typical week in this role might look like/this role involves:
- Construction of new overhead electrical infrastructure to approved standards;
- Completion of overhead maintenance tasks in a timely manner and in accordance with Yarra Trams business objectives;
- Reporting on overhead maintenance inspections and ensuring data is clear & accurate;
- Inspection, testing, and maintenance of tools & equipment as required;
- Fault investigation & analysis
- Undertake internal and external training courses as the role requires, including Trade School
About you
Ideally you will have:
- A strong desire to attain the required qualifications and experience to complete the apprenticeship via both TAFE and experience gained while at work;
- A strong interest in the maintenance and construction of overhead electrical assets;
- A desire to work in an outdoor environment;
- A strong work ethic;
- A willingness to work as part of a team;
- Pre-Qualification via a Certificate II Electrotechnology (Career Start) or equivalent (preferable);
- Knowledge of Road Safety (Traffic) Regulations particularly relating to tram operations (preferable);
