About the role

Due to growth within the Gas Industry, we have an exciting and rare opportunity for multiple Construction Officers to work around Sydney, Canberra and Newcastle. In this position, you will be our site supervisor and be responsible for managing contractors on Jemena work sites.

As part of this role, you will ensure the safety and integrity of gas assets through the supervision of all works in the vicinity of gas distribution and high pressure pipelines, including; Trunk, Primary and Secondary assets.

This position has an attractive starting salary of $115,000 pa with paid overtime paid at 1.6. This position also attracts a tool of trade vehicle, 30% uplift for any night works, participation in our bonus program and you will receive travel and living away from home allowances if required.

Your responsibilities will include

  • Providing direction to contractors and Jemena/Zinfra staff to ensure adherence to procedure and company policies
  • Ensuring a safe working environment, compliance and environmental standards are met
  • Supervise all civil works and ensure permit systems are followed
  • Supervise any testing, defect assessment and remedial works on the pipeline and coatings
  • Liaise and report to Jemena/Zinfra management, relevant stakeholders and government departments as required
  • Understand legislation regarding working at depth/heights and in and around other utilities
  • Provide advice/mentor staff and contractors to assist with safe and efficient delivery of works

About you

  • Utilities construction experience, laying underground utilities
  • Basic MS office suite skills (Word and Excel)
  • Driver's Licence
  • Experience with and interpretation of technical drawings/plans/maps (highly regarded)
  • Experience with construction/maintenance of steel pipelines to AS2885 or 4645 (highly regarded)
  • Experience with the use of specialised equipment such as 02 monitors and pipe locators (desirable)
