We are seeking 2 x motivated Trainee Power Communications Technicians to undertake a Certificate IV in Telecommunications Engineering Technology, then on successful completion you will undertake an Advanced Diploma of Industrial Data Communication, Networking and IT. This will run over a 4 year program which will enable you to obtain industry skills and knowledge under the supervision of qualified and experienced professionals, while also attending TAFE to complete your certification.
The locations for these traineeships will be based at Rowville (x1) and Thomastown (x1) however flexibility will be required to work anywhere around Victoria.
During the program, you will be a valued member of our team and will experience a variety of work environments within the electricity supply industry which will enhance your skills and career development opportunities.
Key responsibilities that you will learn along the way include
- Install, maintain and diagnose faults in a range of Communication equipment, some listed below, operating on both optical, microwave radio and copper bearers
- Digital multiplexers
- MPLS-TP equipment
- Microwave radio equipment
- Powerline Carrier equipment
- Teleprotection equipment
- Install, maintain and diagnose faults on copper and fibre optic cables
- Supporting the delivery of capital works and maintenance programs
- Support the Zinfra Group to maintain communications assets throughout Victoria
- The ability to work effectively as a member of a team and also individually from time to time
- Commitment to developing new skills including operation of various test and diagnostic equipment.
About You
This is an exciting time for our industry and we would love to be able to share this journey with someone who is committed and eager to learn. When you complete the program successfully, you will have completed all competencies for an Advanced Diploma of Industrial Data Communication, Networking and IT.
To be considered for this role you will have:
- Strong VCE results in mathematics and physics
- Previous experience in IT or electrical related fields
- Excellent analytical and problem solving skills as well as a proven commitment to health and safety
- A good positive attitude and a willingness to work as a team will no doubt see you succeed in your new role
