We are seeking a motivated Trainee Electrical Network Operator to undertake an Advanced Diploma in ESI over a four-year program which will enable you to obtain industry skills and knowledge under the supervision of qualified and experienced professionals, while also attending TAFE to complete your certification.
The location for this traineeship will be based at Broadmeadows though much of your time will be spent out in the field. During the first year you will be working Monday to Friday however this will then move to a 24/7 roster which will include weekend work.
During the program, you will be a valued member of our team and experience a variety of work environments within the electricity supply industry which will enhance your skills and career development opportunities.
Key responsibilities include
- Developing an in-depth knowledge and understanding of all Zone Substation & Distribution electrical equipment including planned and emergency switching
- Learn how to issue Electrical Access Authorities and other related paperwork
- Learn how to interpret operating diagrams and construction drawings (high voltage and low voltage)
- Assist in clearing new apparatus for service
- Develop your skills to learn to test and commission new apparatus/test of damage apparatus
About You
This is an exciting time for our industry and we would love to be able to share this journey with someone who is committed and eager to learn. When you complete the program successfully, you will have completed all competencies for an Advanced Diploma in ESI.
To be considered for this role you will have:
- Certificate III in Electrotechnology or completion of Lineworker Apprenticeship is desirable
- An enjoyment of working in the outdoors
- Self-motivation and the ability to work autonomously and as part of a small team
- A good positive attitude and an enthusiasm for being challenged will no doubt see you succeed in your new role
