The Opportunity
Our People Advisory Services – HR Mergers & Acquisitions practice supports clients in Australia and across the world through mergers, acquisitions, restructuring and divestments. With increasing client demand, we are looking to build our team in either Melbourne or Sydney with professionals who have experience in any aspects of due diligence in a deal.
You will have the opportunity to demonstrate your analytical and commercial skills in our due diligence and deal negotiation assignments, providing workforce insights to key decision-makers that help maximise deal value and identify critical risks.
You will help to identify key value drivers, challenge assumptions about future performance, search for and advise on hidden value, and work with other EY service teams to deliver an integrated approach to our clients before, during and after the transaction.
Your key responsibilities
In your role as in the HR Transactions team, you will:
- Manage and participate in due diligence engagements related to Mergers & Acquisitions
- Analyse data to identify key issues or benefits
- Prepare and deliver workforce due diligence reports which quantify risks and liabilities
- Comment on integration challenges identified during due diligence, as well as providing technical guidance on employment related costs and opportunities
- Work closely with multi-disciplinary teams, including the EY Strategy and Transactions teams to deliver integrated diligence support to clients
- Identify business development opportunities and assist Partners and Directors on proposals and new business opportunities
Skills and attributes for success
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Extensive M&A due diligence experience, working both independently and with senior stakeholders on multiple engagements
- Strong quantitative skills supported by good Excel and/or data analytics capabilities
- Ability to remain focused and productive in a fast-paced environment
- Highly effective written and verbal communication skills and a dedication to teamwork
- A Bachelor’s degree in accounting, law, business/commerce, finance

- A strong work ethic and the ability to flex to new challenges and ideas in a collaborative team environment
