About the Role
An opportunity to oversee and manage the recently upgraded DC & Transport customer network and operations across Victoria, servicing Woolworths supermarkets, Big W and Endeavour Group The network consists of the largest Automated FMCG Distribution Centre in Australia, a freshly commissioned Produce/Fresh DC, along with 3 other company operated and three third party operated DC’s across Victoria and Tasmania.
Your role is to create a Store and Safety centric team and culture all while delivering a lean and efficient operation.Your experience in safety, people, service level and financial acumen will ensure that our Supply Chain is Store Friendly while we deliver on our purpose.
The ambition of the Primary Connect platform is to be the next generation Supply Chain with a simple but important purpose of ‘Connecting communities with the products they need and love’.
Key duties will include:
- Manage the cost of service delivery within an agreed budget whilst achieving agreed service level to stores to provide best price possible outcome for our customers
- Ensure adherence to the supply chain framework which includes action planning, made in conjunction with State OpsX teams, utilising a freedom in a framework methodology.
- Create an environment of shared leadership within the DC Management Team in delivering business results focused on customer satisfaction and team engagement.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives independently and in support of network standardisation, with the goal of further cost reductions and continuing service level improvements.
- Lead and promote people strategies across the DC to facilitate on-going development of the business through people services business model
- Actively participate in the planning, development and implementation of a broad range of new initiatives that support store friendly and efficient transport deliveries to meet or exceed customer needs.
- Develop, manage and execute the business plan and costs for the DC, overseeing ‘whole of site’ functions – DC and Transport, Maintenance, Systems, SHE, People.
- Ensure that ‘Chain of Responsibility’ legislative requirements are adhered to.
- Implement nationally agreed processes, procedures, policies and work instructions
- Develop and maintain the relationship between existing transport carriers & 3PL’s, based on nationally agreed contracts RDC/DC operations and retail operations to ensure high transport service levels to stores (secondary) and distribution centres (primary freight & freight forwarding)
- Manage the receiving capability of the DC’s across the region through working with the replenishment team and national transport
- Maintain and build partnering relationships with Stores, Buying & Marketing, Suppliers and other business partners
- Management of budget for transport in the region and site
- Ensure Operational costs supporting the end to end improvement for Woolworths overall network
- Develop plans for and support the commercialisation of Primary Connect infrastructure
- Champion the C1C program within the region and site

To be successful you will have:
- The ability to adapt communication style to stakeholders at all organisational levels
- Supply Chain or Manufacturing Senior Leadership of at least 7 years
- Experience in leading large numbers of front line team members
- Industrial Relations Experience
- Strong stakeholder management, influencing and networking skills
- Proven capability in delivering high quality outputs under pressure
- The ability to analyses information to identify, manage and mitigate risks; identifies the root causes of risks and escalates issues where required
- Can consult and share the impact of business decisions across Woolworths
- Show Influencing skills through relationships in a matrix style organisation (internal & external)
- Proven ability to coach, guide and develop team members to ensure robust succession
- To deliver the best possible result from the team through inspiration and motivation by succinctly articulating the stie strategy and its linkage to the supply chain group strategy.
