The Opportunity
The Network Engineer – SCADAis responsible for the support of the Data Network and some basic infrastructure support associated with the new GE SCADA Network.
The role of the Network Engineer - SCADA includes but is not limited to:
- Effectively manage daily and routine Data Network management tasks for the 80 SCADA Network devices and ensure strict change and release plans are followed when implementing network updates
- Work with the Infrastructure Team to ensure the high level of availability of the SCADA/EMS system infrastructure is maintained in line with defined service level agreements
- Maintain Data Network capacity plans and support the maintenance of a Data Network technology roadmap
- Participate in planning and work on continues improvement initiatives
- On-call Support as and when required and occasional travel to regional NSW when required
- Carry out any additional duties or projects allocated to the group
- Occasional travel to the regional locations Newcastle and Yass
Skills & Experience
What we expect from you:
Academic & Trade Qualifications
- Tertiary qualifications at degree level in an appropriate discipline, or/and equivalent relevant knowledge and extensive experience
- Post graduate degree in Network Engineering, Management Information Systems or related field preferred
- Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE) preferred
- Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP)
- Extensive relevant experience in each area
Work Experience & Skills
- Demonstrable experience in the area of Data Network administration in a medium to large enterprise
- Comprehensive knowledge of and experience in Network security design and management in a complex business environment
- In-depth applied knowledge of and experience in Cisco and Fortinet solutions
- Strong experience with BGP, MPLS, and OSPF, protocols
- Analytical skills and the ability to work independently and resolve technical problems
- Excellent knowledge of network monitoring and troubleshooting tools
- Skilled in time, priority and task management
- Demonstrated effective oral and written communications skills
- Good interpersonal skills for leading staff and building relationships with customers and colleagues.
- Ability to work in a team environment
- A current NSW driver’s licence
- Troubleshooting and resolving system issues
