The Role
At BIG W, our ambition is to become a purpose-led digital retailer enabled by a great store network. Central to this ambition is the way we use data, analytics and insights to make better, more informed strategic customer, team and business decisions and delivering automation and artificial intelligence capabilities to accelerate progress towards our ambition.
The Data Science & Analytics Lead will lead the translation of business use cases to clear Data Science & Analytics projects and oversee the development and delivery of cutting-edge solutions leveraging Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
Some key responsibilities will include:
- Lead BIG W’s Data Science & Analytics capability, enabling the BIG W business to further unlock the rich value of our data and deliver exceptional experiences for our customers and team
- Lead and nurture the BIG W Data Science & Analytics Chapter, a technical team of 9 data science and data analytics professionals distributed across 3 delivery squads
- Communicate with leaders across BIG W and Data, Analytics & Insights to translate business requirements to clear data science problems
- Provide technical thought leadership in applying machine learning, statistical inference, experimentation and measurement to solve real world problems and grow business value
- Partner with Woolworths Group Technology and Group Data & Analytics leaders to identify, evaluate and deploy emerging technologies and methodologies to accelerate our Data Science & Analytics capabilities
- Define our BIG W Data Science & Analytics standards and service catalogue, ensuring the processes and techniques we use to deliver Data Science & Analytics capability are consistent, trusted and fit-for-purpose across our delivery squads. You will ensure the quality of technical delivery through your expert knowledge of Python & SQL (experience within GCP a significant advantage)
- Evangelise the use of Data Science & Analytics capabilities, and coach cross-functional teams to understand where and when different techniques can create value
- Support the cultural and capability shift of the organisation towards Data, Analytics and Insights
- Promote the use of Data, Analytics and Insights as means to answer the most important, well defined problems and curious questions to address customer, team and business challenges
- Take a visible & leadership role in nurturing a culture of curiosity and insights-led mindset at BIG W
About You
