The position
In this role, you will working with a team of legal professionals responsible for providing legal advice on the interpretation and application of legislation and conducting complex litigation under legislation administered by the Department.
Under the close supervision of the Deputy General Counsel and Assistant General Counsel, you will be responsible for legal research, drafting less complex written legal advice, preparation of simple legal documentation and conducting straightforward litigation in respect of legislation administered by the Department, with a focus on Industry Regulation and Consumer Protection.
This position also assists senior lawyers on more complex litigation matters and assist with administrative support as required.
Applicants with experience in an industry regulation or consumer protection context would be highly desirable.
This position is located in Perth.

What are we looking for?
To apply for this role, please submit a detailed CV and covering letter of no more than two (2) pages addressing the following requirements;
- Degree in Law; AND admitted or eligible to be admitted to practice in the Supreme Court of Western Australia; OR a legal practitioner from outside Western Australia whose qualifications for admission in Western Australia have been approved by the Legal Practice Board of Western Australia.
- Demonstrated ability to identify relevant legal issues, efficiently analyse data and conduct thorough research on legal questions.
- Demonstrated ability to prepare routine or straightforward legal documents and correspondence, including legal research memoranda.
