Energy Safe Victoria (ESV) is Victoria's safety regulator responsible for electricity, gas and pipeline safety. Our role is to ensure that Victorian gas and electricity industries are safe and meet community expectations. We are also responsible for licensing and registering electricians, and educating the community about energy safety. Our people come from a wide range of professions with diverse skills and experience driving the success of ESV.
About the opportunity
We have a fantastic 12 month maximum-term, full-time opportunity for a Senior Policy Officer based at our Southbank office. Reporting into the Head of Regulatory Policy, you will contribute by:

Working closely with ESV's lawyers and technical experts to deliver timely and quality regulatory policies and procedures in an environment of competing priorities and continuous change.

Providing advice, reasoned recommendations and innovative solutions to complex and sensitive issues based on comprehensive research.

Undertaking environmental scanning, research and analysis; and working collaboratively across ESV to identify strategic themes, trends and issues to inform regulatory policy development and advice.

Providing strategic support to leadership in managing stakeholders through effective negotiation and influence.

Preparing and presenting documentation about legal and technical concepts in plain English and for a variety of audiences.

Developing and/or managing the development of training programs to support the transformation.
To be successful, you'll have:
-
Experience in regulatory practice environment and managing regulatory practice projects and processes.

Experience in policy and statutory reform, including development, research, review and formulation of policies.

Understand the principles of safety regulation. Experience in the interpretation and application of complex legislation, regulations, standards and codes in compliance and enforcement of industry participants.

Excellent stakeholder management skills able to manage complex and competing stakeholder needs, and identify innovative solutions to resolve issues.

Demonstrated ability to elicit, interpret and present technical and legal issues for a variety of audiences.

Computer literacy with a range of Microsoft suites including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook, etc.
