We're a high growth fin-tech with a bold plan to shake up the home loan industry. We are looking for a superstar who can come help us stay safe and secure as we grow, and deliver on our mission to help Australians save money on their home loans.

Reporting to the Head of Cyber, you’ll be key to scaling up our Security programme, driving a number of key initiatives that will set us up for continued success. You'll be joining a fun and hardworking team, passionate about getting the basics right, but also thinking outside the box to find some cool ways to innovate. What we do in Athena Cyber:

• Monitor/Hunt for and respond to cyber threats within Athena’s internal and externally facing environments. This includes our customer platform.
• Provide security guidance to internal development, technology and business functions, to ensure our business is conducted safely, while maintaining agility. This includes security reviews of code destined for Production.
• Cut code to help us stay safe, and scale security as we grow!
  

We're looking for a mid-level candidate with a demonstrated passion for information security, with at least a few years' corporate Cyber Security experience in threat detection and/or response.

The ideal candidate would be someone who has been doing Security for a while now, with a few roles under their belt, but feeling a little limited in their current role. They’re looking for a change that allows them have a much greater say in how things are done, have a real impact on the direction and success of their new organisation, and to do all of this in a fun and fast paced environment.

We’re a smaller team, so you’ll be doing all the security things, from incident response to threat hunting, to application security and more. This is a great opportunity to use your skills and experience to directly influence how we do Security at Athena, and to help mentor and develop our less experienced team members to be more awesome too!

Bonus points if you are/have:

• a self-starter, not one to walk away from a problem or a challenge. You love getting things done, and care about how they get done!
• Don’t just want to be told what to do, but want to be involved with building a great team and function.
• Experience using analytics platforms like Sumo Logic or Splunk to detect and investigate threats. You have experience in triage of security alerts, and dealing with security incidents when they occur.
• Comfortable working in an agile, fast-paced environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience with application and/or cloud infrastructure security.
• Competent in at least one scripting language (e.g. Python). You’re not necessarily a developer but can write code to make your life easier.
