About the Role
- To assess and develop an understanding of the proposed changes associated with the implementation of the Rail Technology Program ensuring business engagement and approval
- To develop and refine BHP’s understanding of the business process and update all associated procedures required to deliver the solution to the business (includes updates to Business Continuity Plans)
- To manage, execute and validate updates to the Rail Rule Book associated with the implementation of system changes under the Rail Technology Program ensuring business engagement and approval
- To ensure process and Safeworking artefacts are delivered on time to support the development of the Operational Safety Case.
- To actively participate in required RTP risk assessments ensuring risks are identified, assessed and engineered out
- Ensure process and people application conditions discharged from the Operational hazard log are implemented, validated and traced to the relevant artefact
- To develop, execute and validate the benefits realisation of the Rail Technology programme with support from key business stakeholders and teams
- To lead, develop and coach a team of subject matter experts and analysts to ensure knowledge and expertise in RTP systems and processes are built to support the business throughout the project and beyond.
What Success will look like in 2 years:
- RTP Operational Readiness Process and Value Assurance work stream is progressing to the satisfaction of the RTP/Rail/IPRO Leadership Teams, the BHP Rail Safety Acceptance Authority and the regulator (ONRSR).
- RTP Process changes are developed, validated and accepted by the business
- The Rail Rule Book updated to reflect RTP changes and conditions and has been endorsed by the RSAA
- RTP benefits are being realised
About You
- A tertiary qualification in engineering is preferred
Skills:
- Knowledge of the rail operations and maintenance concepts
- Knowledge of Rail Safeworking and applicable Rail Legislation
- An understanding of the specific challenges that pertain to process and Safeworking changes to a brownfields Rail Operation as result of a large scale safety-related systems implementation.
- An ability to convert concepts (for e.g., operational guides) into practical steps and processes
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills, and good presentation skills
- A demonstrated ability to consult and/or facilitate change with various stakeholder levels
Experience:
- Whilst experience in rail is preferable, candidates who have strengths in risk management and process engineering (including process mapping) would also be considered
- Demonstrated good working knowledge of project management and fundamental processes underpinning a successful project deployment
