About our Operation
The Saraji open cut mine is a coal mine located near Dysart in the Central Queensland region of Australia. The mine is located 200 kilometres south west of Mackay and 60 kilometres south east of the mining town of Moranbah. The Saraji Coal Mine has coal reserves amounting to 648 million tonnes of coking coal, one of the largest coal reserves in Asia and the world. Coal produced at the Saraji mine is exported to overseas steel makers in India, the Americas, Europe, East Asia and South Asia.
About the Role
Reporting to the Superintendent Reliability, you will be part of a team of Reliability Engineers and Specialists who drive the Maintenance performance and benchmarking through defect elimination, analysis, continuous improvement, strategy and reliability fundamentals.
This role is a fantastic opportunity for you to develop your career into the reliability space or to utilise your current experience and bring depth to the team.
This opportunity is being offered at our Saraji site. A site-based roster with residential or flexible options can be offered from various locations.
In this role you will:
- Build business partnerships and maintain strong working relationships with key stakeholders across the business
- Support reliability improvements and the elimination of defects in the end-to-end maintenance system inclusive of defects in parts, procedures, work quality and processes
- Analyse performance metrics and benchmark performance across the site and other BHP businesses
- Support the development of operating standards, procedures and work instructions (operational and maintenance)
- Analyse life of plant, equipment, infrastructure to determine equipment capability and optimisation of maintenance activities
- Develop and optimise maintenance strategies that enable plant safety, reliability and performance to be maximised
- Ensure Work Packs are prepared for regular maintenance and Shutdown tasks; and for the repair of maintenance items
- Develop and increase the capability of the maintenance execution team to drive safety, reliability, efficiency, quality of work and 'maintenance as a profession'
- Closely monitor equipment performance in relation to cost, performance and reliability and complete targeted root cause analysis (RCA). Develop and implement subsequent improvement actions and monitor their effectiveness.
- Provide coaching to the maintenance execution team in regard to defect elimination and root cause analysis
- Work closely with other functions within the organisation including Maintenance Centre of Excellence (MCoE), supply and production departments
- Deliver root cause analysis and “failure type” reviews
About You
- Mechanical or Electrical Engineering degree or trade qualification
- Previous experience in mining or heavy industry maintenance environment with and understanding of reliability engineering and maintenance management.
- Safety conscious, with proven ability to demonstrate risk management and HSEC behaviours
- Passionate about maintenance, continuous improvement and reliability / defect elimination
- Experienced in conducting root cause analysis / investigations
- Experience with following a management of change (MOC) process
- Must have excellent time management skills and be able to prioritise tasks
- Be a team player, but also be able to work effectively unsupervised and be highly self-motivated
- Ability to communicate well across multiple levels and disciplines
- Experience with SAP and Asset Management Software will be advantageous
