The Opportunity
The Stakeholder Relations Advisor will support with the coordination and implementation of TransGrid’s stakeholder and industry engagement strategy and plan. You will support all aspects of TransGrid’s engagement with stakeholders including the preparation of engagement plans, stakeholder mapping and research, preparation of communications materials such as briefing notes, presentations, speaking notes and correspondence and the organisation and administration of meetings.
You will support the management of TransGrid’s key engagement forum, the TransGrid Advisory Council (TAC), which brings together TransGrid’s CEO and Executives and senior representatives of the key industry and consumer groups. This position acts as the secretariat for the TAC, involving liaison with stakeholders and supporting the Senior Adviser and Executives on presentation topics and materials.
In the role you will support the broader Government and Stakeholder Relations team by undertaking research on key issues, monitoring media announcements and regulatory websites for industry developments and ensuring the team’s contact details and other databases are kept up to date.
In the role of the Stakeholder Relations Advisor you will:
- Undertake stakeholder mapping and research tasks to help inform TransGrid’s engagement with key stakeholders
- Prepare engagement plans for TransGrid capital projects and issues
- Act as the secretariat for TransGrid’s Advisory Council (TAC) including the coordination of presentations and speaking topics, preparation of agendas and the taking and circulation of minutes
- Assist with engagement generally with TAC members and with other industry, business and peak bodies
- Assist with the operation of Stakeholder Monitoring Committees
- Assist with the management of TransGrid’s membership of the Energy Charter, an industry-led initiative to drive positive consumer outcomes, including taking a lead role in the preparation of the business’ annual disclosure
- Develop, plan and implement engagement/consultation activities
- Monitor media, social media and regulatory websites for industry developments
- Ensure databases and contact lists are kept up to date and ensure proper processes are in place to capture stakeholder views and insights
- Assist with the preparation of briefing notes and speaking notes and/or presentations for the CEO and other executives for TAC meetings, speeches, conferences and industry forums, and one-on-one meetings
- Help with the preparation of advice in relation to stakeholder views and matters
- Advance engagement evaluation metrics and measurement of outcomes and execute regular stakeholder reporting
- Drive effective change management processes and move new ideas and initiatives forward
- Lead internal change programs specific to TransGrid’s external stakeholder engagement
- Project manage communication activities to deliver successful engagement practices, publications and tools on time and within budget
Skills & Experience
What we expect from you:
- Tertiary qualifications in communications, public relations, community/stakeholder engagement or related field with qualifications and knowledge of IAP2 standards
- Knowledge and experience in planning, implementing and managing stakeholder engagement programs
- Excellent oral and written skills, superior communication skills with strong attention to detail and ability to communicate complex ideas through clear and effective messages
- Proven communications and engagement skills with the ability to drive new ideas and initiatives forward
