Fruit Ripener
We have created three new positions across our Brisbane, Sydney and Adelaide DC’s that will specifically focus on the fruit ripening process to continually improve the quality and freshness of our Fruit and Vegetables through the ripening process for our stores and customers.

About the Role
You will be responsible for managing the Fruit ripening process to outturn the optimum quality and colour stage for our stores and customers.
Within this role you will also be responsible for:
- To monitor and assess Avocados and Bananas delivered to the distribution center (DC)
- Conduct daily / weekly retention sampling programs to monitor take at home quality for outturned fruit
- Complete weekly in store checks and monitoring to validate current practices. Apply learnings and adapt to current ripening rhythms
- Monitor equipment performance and manage site specific challenges to optimise performance
- Conduct NIR or other relevant maturity testing on products
- Provide monthly insights / analysis to the Commercial team through supplier tracking and scorecard measures, develop a greater understanding of the growing conditions & locations of where product comes from to improve the ripening process E2E
- Collaborate with the Commercial Buying Team at all levels to ensure we are delivering the best quality offer for store operations to enhance the customer experience. Actively participate with the Buying team to manage & design the green load scheduling
- Reporting to the Fruit & Vegetables Operations Manager (FVOM) ( QLD, VIC & SA) and working alongside the commercial teams to deliver safe, quality products in line with Woolworths specifications and company KPI’s
About You
Ideally you will have an Agricultural science qualification with post harvest experience. You will be comfortable utilising data to inform the business on commercial decisions including insights around growing regions, product quality and recommendations on buying decisions.
You will be passionate about fruit and veg and will enjoy working within a wider team. You will bring to this role exceptional knowledge of the fruit ripening process and will be comfortable in working with a wide range of stakeholders.
