About the role
The Quality Measuring Instrument (QMI) Engineer will be responsible for providing innovative and best practice QMI Instrument Engineering advice and value add services to the business. You will be responsible for all activities conducted and managed in accordance with agreed HSSE practices and procedures. You will develop and implement strategies to drive increased reliability for QMI instrumentation within the Geelong Refinery. This is an amazing opportunity to bring your existing QMI skills or build on your instrumentation skills and developing a QMI specialisation.
You will provide specialist QMI instrument engineering advice to stakeholders, including Refinery Operators, Maintenance Technicians, Process & Functional Safety Teams and Project Engineers. Use a variety of sources to identify threats to business plan delivery or process safety as a result of unreliability of QMI instrumentation assets and lead campaigns to mitigate high risk/high cost threats. This will include identifying and managing small projects to replace and upgrade QMI. You will also act as QMI instrumentation technical authority for new projects, site standards and modifications via MoC, including associated assurance activities.
You will also be responsible for ensuring reliability is in-built into new equipment design and investigate failures and other reported incidents on QMI instrumentation using RCA techniques. You will be expected to support 100% compliance with statutory instrument safeguarding requirements.
About you
You will be a motivated self-starter with a passion for Instrumentation and keen to build and grow a meaningful career in a complex major hazard facility. To be successful, you will have the following skills and experience;
Skills and behaviours:
- Instrumentation and Control System engineering knowledge
- Maintenance techniques/procedures, including commissioning, training and acceptance.
- Planning and Project Management skills
- Reliability and RCA skills
- Excellent problem solving and communication skills
- Ability to explain the service provided in simple, non-technical English to all levels of refinery personnel
Qualifications and experience:
- Tertiary Engineering qualification
- Instrumentation experience in a production environment (preferable)
- Previous QMI instrumentation experience in a production environment (desirable)
