You are unique: as an exceptional, passionate, customer facing, hands-on Solution Architect you will help customers transform to realize the benefits of modern applications and architectures on the VMware Tanzu portfolio. You will also work closely with the Tanzu R&D and pre-sales teams to transform the way our customers build and run their software. The Team
At VMware we believe that Kubernetes, and by extension Modern Applications, will transform the next generation of enterprise infrastructure and applications the way Virtualisation and Java have in the past. Customers are looking to containers to avoid lock in with public clouds and the industry has aligned around Kubernetes as the orchestration engine for these containers. The complete Tanzu portfolio consists of products and services that transform how enterprises build and operate modern applications on Kubernetes. The Platform Services team helps customers derive the value of Tanzu technology to deliver the benefits of container application platforms through DevSecOps.
What You’ll Be Doing:
Executingon customer engagements both as a member of a team for complex engagements and solo for simpler engagements
Drivingplatform adoption by working with application teams to embrace modern practices around developer workflow, application enhancements, build and packaging, application lifecycle, and observability
Deploying and operationalising platforms built on Kubernetes by designing for storage integration, container networking, service routing, observability, and platform security
Promote the adoption of automation techniques and DevSecOps practices to improve the infrastructure and software life cycle including infrastructure and application uptime, availability, and time-to-market
Participate in mentoring and knowledge transfer to your customers
Support a written culture and contribute to our technical content library
Serve asan effective member of the broader Open Source and Modern Applications ecosystem, contributing to Kubernetes SIG’s, Meetups and similar
Work effectively with a remote and distributed team
REQUIRED SKILLS / EXPERIENCE
3+ years' experience with design and implementation of distributed systems architectures on private or public cloud infrastructure
3+ years of experience designing container-based solutions and DevSecOps
10+ years of experience in consulting, pre-sales function.
Robust proficiency in Linux & CLIwith 3+years of experience in VM infrastructure
Understanding ofthe latestcloud trends and best practices, including Cloud-Native, DevSecOps and infrastructure-as-code principles
Experience in a customer-facing capacity, support, or consulting role
Strong written and oral communication skills
Ability to travel approximately 50%
PREFERREDor HELPFULSKILLS / EXPERIENCE
Experience presenting to small and large audiences (Executives, Management & Developers)
Experience with cloud service provider offerings like Microsoft Azure or Amazon Web Services (AWS) or Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
Experience implementing a continuous integration (CI) or continuous development (CD) pipeline.
The ideal candidate will have familiarity with virtualisation technologies such as Hyper-V, vSphere, and vCenter.
