The Environment Specialist will support our Victoria region's operating assets, as the subject matter expert in environmental management, ensuring we meet our environmental obligations and contributing to the overall Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) culture.
This is a part-time role that can be worked flexibly three days per week.
The impact you'll have:
- As the subject matter expert in environmental management, you'll ensure our environmental requirements are identified, understood, managed and complied with by all relevant internal and external stakeholders.
- You'll understand our environmental risks and routinely review environmental datasets (e.g. water and air quality), analysis for trends and notify stakeholders of non-conformances.
- You'll develop and maintain key business relationships, provide strong environmental leadership and a strong compliance focus while championing continuous improvement across the Victoria region.
- You'll be integral in ensuring the consistent delivery of a high-quality environmental support service to the business and while shaping our overall HSE culture.
- You'll support sustainability in the preparation of the company's mandatory environmental reporting including the Federal Government's National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting System (NGERS).
- You'll support our Victorian region operating assets together with future green and brownfield growth opportunities within Victoria.
The talents you'll bring:
- 8+yrs experience working in an operational or major projects environment, with infrastructure experience being highly desirable.
- Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Engineering, Physical Sciences, Earth Sciences or equivalent.
- Strong working knowledge and practical application of environmental legislation, standards, and codes across the Victorian region together with a deep understanding of statutory environmental reporting requirements.
- Effective communication skills, including report writing and the preparation of concise management reports.
- A strong ability to work with and influence stakeholders and workforce towards a culture of continuous improvement in environmental performance (change management experience would be advantageous).
- A solid background in liaison with Government and Council agencies in relation to environmental issues, initiatives and management.
- Experience in development and implementation of environmental and integrated management systems and the application of ISO14001.
- High appreciation and understanding of Health & Safety standards.
