About the role
Through a strategic and systems approach, the Senior Transmission Network Strategist contributes to and drives Powerlink’s long-term network strategy and its integration within the portfolio planning and delivery process.
Your key accountabilities include:
- Lead and drive the development of Powerlink’s long-term network strategy, incorporating research on current external environmental trends
- Considering the associated risks and opportunities of strategies to optimise the current and future value of the network and meet current and future customer needs.
- Actively research, identify and assess opportunities for improvement for Powerlink’s network strategy, to ensure Powerlink’s network evolves, develops and remains sustainable in response to changes in the market and technology.
- Develop and lead the application of scenario planning, quantitative energy analytics and energy market modelling to support Powerlink’s long term planning and investment decisions.
- Undertake long-term network needs analysis across a 10+ year horizon to provide input for other areas of Powerlink, including Network Operations and Planning teams.
- Maintain expert professional knowledge of technological developments in power systems, planning and modelling and the particular aspects of Queensland’s power system and related sectors
- Lead specific strategic initiatives, innovation or improvement projects.
About you
It is essential that you have relevant degree qualifications in electrical engineering, economics, data science or a related discipline.
You have expert knowledge of power system plant characteristics and the ability to plan and model power system plant and system behaviour. You have an excellent understanding of the electricity market, the policy and regulatory environment, network planning, participants and customers across the supply chain and other related sectors.
You are also competent in market modelling and economic assessments of the transmission network.
You have a demonstrated ability to inspire high performing teams and leaders from all levels across Powerlink.
