A fantastic opportunity at nbn to join the Melbourne team as a Senior Solution Engineer in the area of Wireless Core Network domain.
It is an exciting time for the Fixed Wireless Engineering team due to the recent Australian Government announcement of a $750 million investment to 5G-enable nbn Fixed Wireless. The investment will help to deliver faster speeds to homes and businesses across semi-rural, regional and remote Australia. This role will be contributing to nbn for the modernisation of network infrastructure to provide the latest 5G enhanced mobile broadband capability across the Fixed Wireless network.
As a Senior Solution Engineer – Wireless Core, reporting to the Manager Architecture – Wireless Core. You will join the Fixed Wireless Engineering Architecture team and be accountable for to the development of wireless core network related solution ensuring the Wireless Core Network and IP Backbone Network components are scalable, cost effective and comply to the service performance specified by nbn.
A bit about your role
This is an important role for us! You will be responsible for the delivery and implementation of initiatives relating to IP MPLS and virtualize Dual Mode Core network for Fixed Wireless. Provide technical design, method of procedure and operation support to operation and the network integration team. You will work with stakeholders to collect and synthesise business and key technical requirements to implement new network solution.
To drive continues improvement, you will be actively contributed to identification of gaps and issues related to existing architectures and propose new changes. Provide inputs to Wireless Core Architecture and Technology Roadmaps. You will be responsible for the development of quantifiable and traceable solution and lead Proof-of-Concept activities for new network solutions.
A bit about you
To be successful in this role, you will ideally meet the below criteria:
- Tertiary qualifications relevant to Telecommunication and IT industry; especially Fixed Wireless / Mobile Technology, Engineering, Applied Science and Computing.
- Minimum of 6+ years’ experience in Design, Integration and Operationalization of IP Network Communication Systems preferably with exposure to 4G/ 5G environment.
- Knowledgeable in Data Networking, Carrier Ethernet, Provider Edge and Switching networks with solution design, implementation, and deployment background with practical knowledge in Layer 2 and Layer 3 protocols (like EVPN, MP-BGP, OSPF, BGP, MPLS, ISIS and Segment Routing)
- Proven experience in the implementation of large-scale migration projects, involving Wireless Core (EPC/ 5GC) and or Routing and Switching networks preferably with exposure to cloud infrastructure or software virtualization or IP Networking solution.
- Certified in CCNA or JNCIA and or CCNP/ JNCIS in the area of routing and switching.
- Ability to liaise with stakeholders to develop technical solutions to meet project delivery milestone or address short term technical constraints.
- Experience in UNIX/Linux/RHEL/Ubuntu and/or any other server OS, be it on bare metal and/or Virtual Machine, and system admin functions.
- Experience in Python/ Bash scripting for interworking with RestAPI and NETCONF interface.
- Solid understanding of cloud infrastructure components integration and how resources should be best utilised.
