The role:
The MTM Burnley depot currently has a vacancy for a Substation Electrician. The role will undertake corrective, preventative maintenance and renewals activities of electrical network assets, in accordance with relevant standards when working on the traction substations and substation network infrastructure.
Demonstrated work experience in a similar industry and the ability to maintain positive and collaborative relationships with clients, colleagues and stakeholders is essential.
This night shift position works on a 4 on 4 off roster from 7pm - 6am
Main duties:
- Perform work associated with the construction, inspections, maintenance, renewal or upgrade of substation electrical network assets
- Perform HV operations and switching and issue permits
- Attend to electrical network faults, diagnose root cause and implement fixes as quickly as possible
- Accurately report all information regarding electrical network faults
- Respond to work requests from Electrol to manage non-conformities that have been identified
- Undertake manual handling and small plant operation and maintenance
- Perform Track Force Protection Coordinator safe working duties
- Maintain workplace, yards and any tools/equipment being used
- Operate vehicles and specialised mobile plant
- Ensure maintenance and safety of mobile plant and vehicles and carry out regular checks as per plant maintenance schedules
About you:
- 2 years electrical network work experience
- Licensed Electrician
- Sound knowledge of the safety requirements of working in the rail and maintenance industry, Occupational Health and Safety Act, Codes of Practice, regulations, safe working practices and High Voltage Rules
- Ability to undertake flexible shift work duties, including permanent night shift, rotating day/afternoon/nights/weekends, and work reasonable overtime as required and respond to after hour's emergencies
- Extensive knowledge of electrical substation materials and equipment
- Experience in Substation Maintenance and/or Substation Construction
- Certificate IV in ESI –Power Systems Substations - preferred
- Qualified HV Operator (HV S1, I1, T1, O1) - preferred
