The Opportunity
A fantastic opportunity has become available for a Senior Asset Analyst to join the Asset Management team on a permanent basis.
In this role you will provide data-driven predictive analytics to support sound investment decisions (on both capital and operational) across all network asset classes. Your insights and recommendations to optimise the balance between cost risk and performance will position the business to deliver long-term security holder value.
You will lead the development and management of datasets for use in asset capital and operating expenditure strategies, providing advice to Transgrid’s Board, Executive and other senior leaders in the business. You will also apply capital investment governance to maximise business value.

Key Responsibilities
As a Senior Asset Analyst - Network you will:
- Develop strategies and procedures relating to investment performance for all network assets, including KPI development
- Develop approaches to determine effective trade-offs between capex/opex and cost/risk/performance, supporting sound investment decisions
- Ensure continuous improvement of existing datasets and algorithms for capital and operating expenditure optimisation
- Maintain up to date reporting of capital and operational expenditure and performance data for all assets
- Develop automated models to inform strategy and plans; translate data into insights enabling communication of risks and opportunities to the relevant stakeholders
- Present key findings of analysis to support different areas of the business in strategic and tactical decision making
- Work collaboratively with asset managers and strategists, assist in the preparation of the budgeting of the capital and operational programmes
- Assist in the development and application of best practice governance processes for Transgrid’s prescribed network capital investment decision-making
- Recommend and influence changes to available datasets and data quality to support continuous improvements under the Asset Information Strategy
Skills & Experience
To be successful in the role you will have:
- Tertiary qualifications at degree level in an appropriate engineering discipline, or equivalent relevant experience
- Advanced business case, capital investment analysis, and benefits realisation skills, including experience with portfolio optimisation, within an economically regulated infrastructure business
- Experience in MS Office Suite particularly Excel & PowerPoint is essential, Power BI & database programing is advantageous
- Sound verbal and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal and presentation skills
- Strong research and analytical skills
- Experience with effectively managing internal and external stakeholders
- Proven ability to work together with a team of technical specialists and professional staff
