About the role
Reporting to the Supervisor Work Trains, you will operate the day-to-day effective running of the work trains whilst maintaining a high level of safety, service and work quality. Some of your responsibilities will include:
- An overriding commitment to health, safety, environment responsibility and sustainable development
- Safely operate BHP Ballast Wagons (loading and dropping of ballast throughout the network)
- Safely operate BHP Steel Train (loading and delivering various continuous welded rail lengths throughout the network)
- Accurately complete all track required documentation including safety and field leadership
- Comply with all rail safe working requirements and follow all operating procedures
- Participate in continuous improvement projects and undertake training as required to gain new skills and improve team's capabilities
- Support the Track Machine Workshop and Rail Project teams as required
- Enter data utilizing Windows and SAP programs
About You
As the successful candidate, you will possess the following:
- Minimum of a current Australian C Class License, HR License preferred
- Loader Ticket & Dogging Ticket desirable but not essential
- Sound knowledge of work trains techniques, materials (Ballast and Steel work trains, rail string dropping and picking up, loading and dropping of ballast) and understanding railway operations and maintenance is highly regarded.
- Personnel will be required to constantly travel throughout the whole of the WAIO rail network to meet plan requirements. The ability to work cohesively within a small team, with drive and focus on safety is essential.
