About the role
The Construction Manager is responsible for the direction and control of all construction activities on New Energy projects to ensure the achievement of the Company’s profit objectives.
You will
- Direct and control site construction activities on project to ensure that standards of quality, cost, safety, and performance are observed and that time schedules are met
- Plan and stage construction works, as well as new works
- Interface with engineering, procurement, commercial, quality, material handle and expediting logistic functions to ensure construction activities can take place immediately once on site
- Ensure sufficient resources (plant and people) are provided on a project so that it can be delivered safely
- Monitor physical and financial progress of work
- Ensure harmonious employee relations with advice from People & Culture as appropriate
- Ensure project data bases are fully maintained for all off site construction activities including, material specifications, supplier status, supplier deliverables, expediting, work area work pack documentation, on site RFI process coordinate with engineering
- Liaise directly with client to maintain high level customer service relationships
- Support and maintain a safe and healthy workplace and for adherence to company policies and other applicable laws, regulations, and standards for the workplace. Ensure practices adopted reflect a commitment to the highest standard in OH&S and environment
- Enthusiastically and co-operatively undertake all site inductions as requested by the client
Essential
- Minimum of 10 years construction experience with minimum of 5 years management experience (e.g., Project Manager, Construction manager, Superintendent, Foreman) working on construction projects or similar
- Tertiary qualifications and/or extensive experience appropriate to the responsibilities of the position
- Construction Card
- Current and valid driver’s license
- Equivalent construction tickets and safety certifications
- Experience in managing and leading a team of people
- Knowledge of OHS and Environmental legislation, Codes of Practice and Standards as they apply to the construction industry
- Strong background dealing with contractor organisation and enforcing compliance with HSEQ performance measures
- Sound analytical skills and ability to challenge existing practices to identify justifiable improvement opportunities
- Experience in formulating and reviewing policies and procedures to identify improvement opportunities
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written with a demonstrated ability to discuss a wide range of issues to people across all levels of the organisation
- Demonstrated ability to participate in and contribute to accident/incident investigations, risk assessments and hazard and injury management processes
- Willingness and ability to mentor and coach teams and individuals
- Proficient skills in computers\: MS Word, Excel, Access, email etc.
