Gas and Ventilation Analyst – Brisbane Corporate Office
We have an exciting new opportunity for a Gas and Ventilation Analyst to join our Gas Energy and Infrastructure/UG Mining Excellence Team.
Reporting to the Principal Ventilation Manager/Technical Manager Gas, this role will be responsible for the collection and analysis of underground environment data in relation to ventilation, gas (including seam gas), sponcom, mine cooling, dust and DPM management systems. The timely and accurate acquisition of scattered data is essential to operate these systems effectively and to enable commercial and statutory reporting requirements.
This role will also be responsible to provide accurate data and analysis in conjunction with the Metcoal Data Analytics centre and to make recommendations to optimise various engineering control systems best practice, future state benchmarking.
Key outputs for this role:
- Collate, analyse and maintain various underground environment parameters such as ventilation, gas, sponcom, mine cooling, dust and DPM monitoring data.
- Provide and support Data Analytics analysis of underground environment data.
- Undertake studies and recommend improvements to Longwall and development productivity through engineering processes
- Engage with data analytics team for opportunity identification and P101 inputs
- Provide input to short, medium and long term mine planning and business plan inputs in underground environment management systems.
- Establish and optimise the Early Warning System providing appropriate alerts and alarms to the operations to identify and prevent significant loss events associated with Gas Management, Ventilation and DPMM and Dust levels.
The successful candidate will possess a Degree in Mining Engineering, Process Engineering or similar as well as perational experience in Gas and Ventilation practices in underground coal mines. Experience in underground mining environment (health and safety systems) data collation and analytical experience is essential. You will also have demonstrable knowledge and experience in the UG environment monitoring systems, specifically data collation, synthesis, and analyses of individual process elements.
This is an opportunity to work for a multinational mining company based in our Brisbane Corporate Office, within our Gas Energy and Infrastructure Discipline This is a full-time position.
