About the What Women Want Report
Downloaded by thousands of employers each year, our report has become an essential resource in the action plans of companies of all sizes, sectors, and stages of their DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) journey.
This year, over 1,000 women across Australia and the UK participated in our comprehensive research. Combining their candid insights with guidance from our in-house DEI experts, this free and easy-to-read report reveals how to hire and retain more women and marginalised groups in 2025.
Crucially, we also reveal the common ways many employers are unknowingly putting them off and even pushing them away. This includes rising reports of both false promises and poorly implemented DEI efforts. The result? Broken trust. The response? A growing demand for clear, upfront proof of an employer’s commitment to the careers of women and marginalised groups.
%
Believe workplaces are improving for women and marginalised groups. However, progress is slow—and 12% say it’s actually getting worse.

Still face significant workplace barriers, often exacerbated by poorly implemented benefits, policies, or DEI initiatives.
%
Will no longer apply for roles with hidden benefits and policies—double the figure from last year, highlighting a growing demand for transparency.
“To heighten its impact, we’ve gathered the largest and most diverse What Women Want dataset to date, taking additional steps to ensure insights reflect the often unheard voices of those not afforded the privileges granted to white, heteronormative, neurotypical and able-bodied women. We share these insights in the hope that readers will use this information not to perpetuate the problem with false promises, but to be part of the solution—driving and demonstrating real progress, not the illusion of perfection.”
