Previous experience in approvals and mine closure in mining is a pre-requisite. A focus on care, attention to detail, teamwork, organisational skills and sound Clinical skills will be highly regarded.

We are now seeking an Approvals and Closure Environmental Specialist to join our Sustainability Division. This is a 6 month Fixed Term role based in our Perth city office on a Monday to Friday roster.

This role provides subject matter expert advice to environmental teams and management across the Australia region, seeking to coordinate approvals, amendments to existing approvals and mine closure plan updates to meet Life of Mine schedules.

Reporting to the Manager of Environment Approvals and Closure; this role is accountable for various aspects pertaining to Approval; Mine Closure and Rehabilitation, Continuous Improvement, Stakeholder relationships, planning.

Accountabilites:

  • Exhibit a high degree of safety and environmental awareness, promote safe systems of work and environmentally responsible work practices.
  • Provide a high level of general knowledge of environmental hazard and risk management.
  • Experience in statutory environmental approval/permitting requirements and providing advice
  • Professional level of skill in reviewing technical documents & reports (internal & from consultants)
  • Ability to plan & execute on knowledge gaps identified in Mine Closure Plans
  • Determining approval pathway options
  • Detailed knowledge of the statutory environmental approval / permitting requirements and able to provide competent advice on these requirements
  • Sound understanding of other mining disciplines including mining, processing and maintenance activities
  • Familiarity with Regulator environmental processes at DEMIRS & DWER

About you :

  • Tertiary qualifications in Environment Management, Science or a related discipline
  • Hands on and proven experience held within a same role/project/team
  • A minimum of 7 years professional experience within the mining industry with some site experience at a senior level
  • Current WA Drivers Licence
  • Able to do some site travel when needed
  • A National Police Clearance
  • Permanent work rights in Australia (Mandatory)
