We now have an exciting opportunity available for a Field Operative to join our Operations team in Eagle Farm or Yatala, on a Permanent full-time basis.
Reporting to the Supervisor Field Services you will play a key role in the safe and timely delivery of field activities in relation to the operation, repair and maintenance of the gas distribution network and underground gas pipelines.
Key Responsibilities
- Under the direction of the crew leader, work efficiently to repair gas leaks including emergency repairs, carrying out construction and alteration of mains and services
- Safely use all types of manual and mechanically operated equipment associated with excavation work; e.g. excavator, shovels and jackhammers, and compaction equipment, etc.
- Perform routine checks of all types of equipment associated with gas reticulation e.g. pipe & cable Locators, gas detection equipment
- Accurately locate both gas reticulation underground plant and other utilities using equipment provided
- Loading and unloading of quarry materials including transportation to and from site.
- Maintain a safe working environment for all employees by recognising, understanding and making safe, hazardous situations and ensuring compliance with all safety and environmental regulations.
About You
- Must be prepared to work on a rotating standby roster offering 24 hour / day, 7 day / week support.
- Prior experience or skills in gas distribution and/or field maintenance activities.
- Previous experience in distribution networks is advantageous.
- MR license and mobile plant experience e.g. skid steer and excavator is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated strong focus on safety.

Networks manages and operates transmission pipelines and local distribution networks that deliver gas to around 1.4 million households and businesses across Australia.
This is an exciting time for the Networks team, we are growing and expanding with many new projects, including 2032 Olympics. Also, we have a strong culture of continuous improvement and working towards Net Zero with the introduction of renewable green gas into the Gas Networks.
