About the Role:


The Security Advisor – Security Governance & Intelligence is responsible for assisting with the effective implementation of security arrangements for ASC. The Security Advisor – Security Governance & Intelligence will work as part of a growing team to support our adherence with the Defence Industry Security Program (DISP) and assist with the management of threat and risk based available intelligence from a variety of sources.

This role will support the security team by providing up to date threat assessments and briefings across ASC. Ongoing coordination and advice regarding security compliance critical to the success of Build IPT activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Acquire and apply specific technical knowledge and experience to identify research and analyse security threats, issues and risks to enable accountable decision making.
  • Understand the security threat, risk and operational context within the Defence environment to provide advice on protective security matters.
  • Prepare and present security training and awareness sessions to internal and external stakeholders in order to support the protective security needs of ASC and Defence.
  • Develop threat briefings, reports, policies, procedures and practices in coherence with ASC, Australian Submarine Agency (ASA), NPSSR and Commonwealth security requirements.
  • Proficient in the use of tools to assist the day-to-day operations of ASC Security, which include, but not limited to the use of the JIRA Security Service Desk and Confluence.
  • Conduct enquiries and report on security incidents within Defence mandated timeframes.
  • Provide protective security guidance and advice to stakeholders to enable the achievement of appropriate security controls.
  • Contribute to the execution of current and future ASC Security objectives.
  • Provide day-to-day assistance to internal functions relating to general and specialised security matters.
  • Maintain security governance in accordance with the DSPF with specific emphasis on incident management and resolution.
  • Engage with various security agencies including DSD and Outreach to assist with local and international security matters.
  • Build and sustain productive and collaborative relationships with stakeholders to achieve protective security objectives internally and externally.
  • Provide security advice in relation to travel, both nationally and internationally and security systems.
  • Provide ah-hoc security services as required in accordance with the DSPF.

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a Defence or similar environment with a particular focus on Defence security arrangements and high attention to detail
  • Security disciplines and their practical application to Defence
  • Experience and knowledge in compliance, assurance and governance frameworks
  • In-depth knowledge of working with intelligence products from a variety of sources and being able to create reports relevant to the business.
  • An ability to simply communicate complex issues (written/ verbally)
  • Ability to work collaboratively and develop strong cross functional teams
  • Identify areas continuous improvement and lessons learned and assisting with developing action plans to rectify as needed
  • Eligible for AGSVA Negative Vetting Level 2
  • Eligible to meet International Traffic in Arms (ITAR) Regulations

Eligibility 

This role requires a current National Police Clearance, an Australian Defence Security Clearance (NV2) or the ability to obtain and an ability to access protected US defence technology. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearances and approval
