The Mine
Federation is now one of Australia’s newest and highest-grade base metals mines. Located 15 kilometres south of the central-west township of Nymagee, the Federation deposit hosts significant zinc, lead, and gold mineralisation.

The Role:
Working as part of the site Mine Geology team at Federation, this role supports the overall operation of the mine, offering you a broad exposure to both the underground and project side of the operation. On a daily basis you will be assisting with diamond drill core processing, underground grade control, material tracking and management of geological data.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensuring a safe work environment by identifying hazards, enhancing safety, and fulfilling all reporting needs
- Handling, collection and processing of geological samples, including but not limited to, stockpile, face and sludge samples
- Monitoring grade and ore/waste allocations of all development headings and stopes
- Minimise dilution by monitoring ore drive position and direction
- Produce high quality geological mapping of faces and backs
- Assist with diamond drill core processing, including mark-up and geological logging, and assisting the geology technicians with sampling where required
- Update and maintain geological databases
- Work with underground supervisors and operators when working in operational areas
- Utilise site systems and QA/QC protocols to ensure the quality and integrity of data
- Consistently consider the financial impact of all your actions so that you can proactively participate in and assist your Manager and team to manage costs effectively
- Adhere to Aurelia standards and procedures
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and identify opportunities for improvements and enhancements which will increase operational performance.
About you:
A recent University Graduate who is looking for a dynamic hands-on role in an exciting, new, underground high-grade polymetallic mine:
- Aligned with Aurelia Metals Values, showcasing commitment to our inclusive and respectful culture.
- Capable of obtaining a National Police Clearance (valid within the last 3 months) for site access.
- Holds a valid ‘C’ Class Driver’s Licence, without restrictions.
- Tertiary Qualification in Geology or similar
- Intermediate to advanced MS Office Suite skills
- Graduated from university within the last 2 years
- Prior mine site experience as a Vacation Student is not essential but would be highly regarded.
- Prior exposure to geological software such as Leapfrog desirable but not essential.

Flexible and Convenient Work Schedule:
We understand the importance of balancing professional commitments with personal life. Our 8 days on, 6 days off roster pattern allows for this balance, with direct FIFO arrangements from Brisbane and Sydney to Cobar. For those in Melbourne, travel includes a convenient connection via Sydney, providing easy access to our operations.
