About The Role

Babcock is seeking a dedicated Trade Controls Specialist to lead and support the application and implementation of export control compliance for our diverse business. This role ensures adherence to our import and export (‘trade’) controls policies and procedures, with a particular focus on the U.S. International Trade in Arms Regulations (ITAR).

As the Trade Controls Specialist, you will manage all aspects of trade controls compliance, acting as the central point of contact and subject matter expert. You will ensure strict compliance with relevant regulations from the U.S. (ITAR, EAR), U.K., Australia, New Zealand, and other applicable jurisdictions. This includes coordinating and forwarding license applications, providing export compliance expertise, and supporting internal stakeholders in evaluating compliance, establishing compliance measures, and implementing corrective actions.

Your responsibilities will also involve monitoring access controls for export-controlled technology and instituting local reporting and governance frameworks for trade controls matters. You will execute an internal audit program to identify non-compliance issues and oversee the implementation of corrective actions, ensuring that all procedures and policies comply with applicable laws and regulations.

To be successful, you will bring

  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of Australian, NZ, U.K., and U.S. export controls.
  • Extensive experience in a similar role.
  • Bachelor’s degree in law, commerce, or business.
  • For Australia based candidates: Australian Citizen with an AGSVA/defence security clearance or, for NZ based candidates: NZ Citizen with a NZSIS/defence security clearance.
