Nickel West is a fully integrated mine-to-market business. Our culture is rich with technical know-how, highly efficient and focused on innovation. The business employs over 2500 people from five operations across Western Australia comprising of nickel underground and open-cut mines, concentrators, a smelter and a refinery. About the Role
As the underground mining engineer you will foster positive relationships, ensuring effective communication between the Technical Services and Mine Operations teams to ensure that any discrepancies are identified between plans and actuals, and address any gaps to ensure adherence to the plan. You will have access to technology that will enable you to work flexibly, which is key to BHP’s success in addressing the requirements of a diverse workforce.
Key responsibilities include:
- Drill and blast Design
- Ventilation Surveys
- Underground Inspections
- Daily Tracking / Compliance to plan
- Weekly Scheduling / Planning
- Business improvement / Project work
- Maintaining safety standards
About You
The diverse work will require a focus on delivering value, clear decision-making, technical and collaboration skills. The successful candidate will possess:
- A tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering (or related discipline)
- Mine planning software skills (Deswik), desirable not essential
- Underground operational experience, desirable not essential
- Proficiency in VBA, Scripting and Macros, desirable not essential
