About the Role

This opportunity is located at our Peak Downs Mine. Owned and operated by BMA it is one of the world's largest open cut metallurgical coal operations. We are currently looking for a Mine Services Supervisor to join the team on a 7/7 Day shift only roster.

Reporting to the Superintendent Mine Services this position is responsible for managing a large team of operators to establish and maintain a safe and standardised mine site while interacting with multiple processes across site operations. Find out more here

  • Have an overriding commitment to health, safety, environmental responsibility, sustainable development and continuous improvement within the team.
  • Be a visible safety leader, creating a culture of care through engaging, developing and coaching the Mine Services teams
  • Upholding the requirements of the Mine Safety and Inspection Act and Mines Safety Inspection Regulations including daily inspections, interactions, monitoring equipment performance and compliance with operating procedures
  • Have a vast experience with open cut excavation, working with in and around bodies of water and understanding machine operations.
  • Work to maximize compliance with operational plan; ensuring all activities under the supervisor’s control are carried out in accordance with the operation plan and work instructions
  • Provide day to day leadership to the team, managing workloads and allocating duties to deliver the plan, ensuring all development targets are supported and achieved
  • Support and lead a dynamic and diverse team of skilled operators
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with the key stakeholders in order to achieve business objectives.

About You

As the successful candidate you will possess the following:

  • Previous experience leading, coaching and mentoring employees with diverse skills and capabilities
  • Proven track record of safe work practices in high-risk environments, hazard identification and rectification
  • Confidence to carry out risk assessments, process confirmation activities and workplace inspections to ensure site standards and safe working environments
  • Strong communication skills and ability to build relationships across all workgroups
  • Attention to detail and strong administrative skills to review and manage weekly plans
  • Be a motivated problem solver dedicated to continuously improving their work environment
  • High level understanding of incident and investigation procedures
  • Previous experience in large scale open pit mining operations with an appreciation of operating and/or managing auxiliary equipment including dozers, graders, scrapers and excavators
  • Competent computer skills with Microsoft Outlook, PowerPoint, Word Document, and Excel.
  • Capable of learning SAP work management system (computer software) to deliver targets and achieve plan for our large range of stakeholders.
